Full Text

One of our cotemporaries pungently remarks: Wilson says if the South don't accept the Military bill and organize under it, that the property of the people will be confiscated. The man who said that must be a thief and a scoundrel in his heart, and we would advise every honest man to have his windows and his doors bolted and barred when he is near. He is inspiring the negroes with the hope that they may get possession of the property of the Southern whites. What prevents Wilson from organizing a gang of highwaymen? The fact that stealing can not be done by act of Congress. That's the reason. With Holt the murderer, and Wilson, the Congressional highwayman, at large, what may we not expect. Violate the Constitution or your property will be confiscated, is only another way of saying "Your money or your life."
