The Vote of New York.—The vote of New York in 1856 was as follows: Buchanan 195,878, Fillmore 124,604, Fremont 276,907. Anti-Republican majority 43,575. In 1858 the vote for Governor stood thus: Parker, Dem. 230,513, Burrows, Amer. 60,580, Morgan, Rep. 247,953. Anti-Republican majority 43,440. In November, 1859, the vote for Secretary of State stood as follows: Jones, Dem. and Am. 252,589, Leavenworth, Rep. 251,139. Anti-Republican majority 1,450. So it will be seen that at no time have the Republicans carried New York by the popular vote. This leaves room for hope that the fusion ticket will prevail.
