More Mystery.—The Boston Herald states that this forenoon about 11 o'clock, as some workmen were excavating a cellar and clearing a privy near the American House, they discovered two human skulls and 16 fragments of human bones, also a lot of hair which undoubtedly belonged to them, the hair coarse long, and black.—One of the skulls is evidently a woman's the other doubtless a male negro. This opinion is formed from the size and form of the fragments. One of the skulls was somewhat fractured, and it is probable they met their death by violence.
It was the opinion of several physicians that they had lain there more than twenty years, the vault has not been cleared out before for several years and not entirely for the space of twenty years.
The portion of earth where they were found embedded was entirely hard. On the same spot, 20 years ago a large boarding house stood, which was kept by a person named Brigham.
That this discovery will bring to light deeds of darkness perpetrated many years ago, is not impossible, and a strict investigation should at once be instituted by the authorities. Verily we exist in an age of wonders and mystery. As fast as one deed of blood is developed, another follows fast upon its heels, and a train of horrors unexampled in the history of crime is daily divulged in our midst—How true it is that murder will out.
The City Marshall this evening authorized Coroner Pratt to investigate the matter.
