Relief Rolls Here Top Former Year

Relief rolls at SRA headquarters in El Centro totaled 758 families Monday night, the peak for this winter and 377 more than the total on a similar date last year.

Last year's peak was 830 families on April 10, Director Robert Elliott said.

Surplus labor in the migratory agricultural group is credited with boosting the relief rolls.

There are 33 transient families included in the 758 families on relief Monday night. The remainder are residents of California, Elliott said.
