Visit to United States Merely Postponed for Short Time.
London, Sept. 18.-The report from Halifax that the visit of the British squadron, commanded by Rear-Admiral Prince Louis of Battenberg, to the United States has been abandoned is erroneous. It has been found that it will be more convenient for all concerned to postpone the visit, and the squadron therefore will remain at Halifax until October 29 and arrive at Annapolis on November 1. Thence the British warships will go to New York. The actual date of their arrival there is not yet fixed. The squadron will leave New York November 15 for Gibraltar.
Charlottetown, P. E. I., Sept. 18.- Rear-Admiral Prince Louis of Battenberg was given a cordial reception upon his arrival here to-day. The British squadron under his command will sail to-morrow morning for Halifax. While outside that port the warships will participate in target practice.
