Plague of Rodents
Bakersfield, Calif., Jan. 19.--(By the Associated Press)--With S. E. Piper, government house specialist en route here to deliver Kern county from the rodent plague, and with Mercer offering an army of cats from the city pound to be thrown against the invading columns of mice, relief for infested areas was in sight today.
Responding to a call to the state department of agriculture for help, Director G. H. Hecke arranged with the Federal expert, accompanied by Norman Buhn, rodent control chief, to visit the overrun region.
