BANK CLERK CONVICTED.

William E. Dunton, of Chicago, Found Guilty of Embezzlement.

Chicago, Dec. 4.—William E. Dunton, formerly auditing clerk of the Union National Bank, was today found guilty of the embezzlement of $15,000. Sentence was not pronounced. Dunton was an intimate friend of the assistant teller, George Forbes, of the First National Bank, who committed suicide some months ago. His books showed a discrepancy in accounts and it was learned that despondency over this shortage, which was caused by Forbes loaning money to Dunton on the latter's promise he would repay it immediately, drove him into taking his life.
