Full Text

John W. Bear.-We had lost track of Bear for some time, and began to fear that he was about to go into a state of retirement, but the following from yesterday's Old School Republican, shows our fears to have been groundless. Bear should do battle for Mr. Clay, for we understand Clay was Bear's security for the office of Sub Indian Agent. John W. Bear, we learn from a gentleman from Wood county, made a stump speech a few days since, abusing the President after the best style of Mr. Clay, and the effigy burning press. He announced his intention to resign on the 15th inst., which he thought would protect him from the consequences of violating the Whig principle of non interference. We understood about the time, that Bear's services were secured by the leaders at the late 22d Convention.
