KIRKLAND SOLD PEANUTS.

Was Mistaken for Italian Fruit Vender.

William J. Kirkland, clerk in the office of Clerk of the Peace Quigley, had an amusing experience the other day. Leaving the office for a few minutes he went over to the fruit vender's stand at Tenth and Market streets to get some peanuts. In payment he tendered a quarter of a dollar, which the dealer could not change.

He left Mr. Kirkland standing at his place of business while he went to get change. "I'll take a bag of peanuts," said a young lady, stepping up to Mr. Kirkland soon after the vender went away. Mr. Kirkland handed over a bag of peanuts, collected the nickel, and made good with the dealer when he returned.
