ORDINATION SERVICES HELD AT CHRIST PROTESTANT EPISCOPAL CHURCH TUESDAY MORNING.
REV. C. H. DOWELL ORDAINED INTO DEACONATE ORDER OF THE CHURCH BY BISHOP GRAVATT.
Dr. S. Scollay Moore, of Parkersburg, Delivered Ordination Sermon. Confirmation Services Also Held.
Special ordination and confirmation services were held in Christ Protestant Episcopal church Tuesday morning, on the occasion of a special visit of the coadjutor bishop of the diocese of West Virginia, Rt. Rev. W. L. Gravatt, of Charles Town. The services were marked by the attendance of several of the Episcopal ministers of the state, who also assisted in the services.
The services commenced at 10:30 o'clock. The Rev. C. A. Dowell, who for the past year has been studying for the Episcopal ministry, was ordained into the deaconate order of the church by the bishop. Rev. S. Scollay Moore, rector of Trinity Episcopal church at Parkersburg, delivered the ordination sermon.
There was but one candidate for the office of confirmation, Mr. H. J. Zeverly, of Morgantown. At the close of the ordination services, the bishop conducted the confirmation service.
The services were well attended. The special music rendered by the vested choir was very impressive.
The ministers in attendance were Rev. S. Scollay Moore, rector of Trinity church, Parkersburg; Rev. A. G. Grinnan, rector of the Episcopal church at Weston; Rev. T. Morley, rector of the Morgantown parish, and Rev. James Fish, of the Elkins rectorate.
