Their appearance was highly martial, and the knowledge they discovered in military tactics, won for them the admiration of the populace.
After receiving the courtesies, and partaking of the hospitalities of those who thus liberally entertained them, they proceeded in the steam-boat Connecticut, to New-York, in which city they will remain encamped several days, and will, we doubt not, realize all the pleasures which the "London of America" affords.
The gentlemanly deportment of the corps, and their visible knowledge of military affairs, gained for them the plaudits of the community, who will ever be happy to receive them within our borders.
Great credit is due to the corps of Providence Cadets, for the prompt attention they paid to the military of a sister community, and for the celerity with which they hastened to offer the hand of friendship to their brother soldiers.
The Infantry had the appearance of having suffered a little from fatigue, but their manly and martial appearance gave ample assurance, that when the country is invaded, the enemy will have to contend with "hearts of oak."
