Event Details
The remains of Lady Flora Hastings were removed on the 10th July from Buckingham Palace, on board the Royal William steam ship to be conveyed to Scotland. Among the carriages in the procession were the Queen's, that of the Duchess of Kent, and those of a very large number of the nobility. The coffin was enclosed in a strong wooden case for embarkation, some of the relatives being present at the ceremony. On arrival at Leith the remains were to be conveyed privately to London Castle, where they would lie in state one day.
