Full Text

No Lynch Law for Spain.
New York Sun.

The first dispatch from Capt. Sigsbee, asking for a suspension of public judgment, was variously interpreted. But it was immediately accepted by the people of the United States as the command of common sense and common justice. And until the wreck of the noble ship yields up from beneath the water the secret of her destruction, or conclusive evidence from some other quarter leaves no reasonable ground for doubt, public judgment will remain in suspense, holding the Spanish government and Spain's agents meanwhile guiltless.

This is not Jingoism.
It is Americanism.
