Jones Awarded Another Medal

NEW YORK, Dec. 17. (U.P.)—Another medal was being polished today to take its place besides the hundreds of others won by Robert T. Jones of Atlanta, in many years of golfing competition.

The new medal is the James E. Sullivan memorial medal and was awarded Jones because he "is the competing athlete who by his example and influence as an amateur and as a man, has done most during the past year to advance the cause of sportsmanship."

Other candidates considered for the honor were Clarence De Mar, veteran marathon runner; Helen Wills Moody, woman tennis star; Helene Madison, girl swimmer; Barney Berlinger, great track and field athlete; Thomas Hitchcock, world's greatest poloist; George Simpson, noted sprinter; Harlow Rothert, shot putter and football star; Raymond Ruddy, distance swimmer and Stella Walsh, girl track star. They were ranked in the above order.
