Nearly Half Million Trout Distributed In Lakes And Streams

Nearly half a million Eastern brook fingerlings hatched at the Pateros hatchery have been released in waters of Okanogan county this year, according to Wm. Underwood, hatchery superintendent.

The trout planted have averaged three inches in length. They were reared at the Beebee springs plant near Chelan. A total of 460,000 were planted.

The fish were distributed in the following lakes and streams of the county: Chopaka lake, 40,000; Omak creek, 10,000; Pearygan lake, 50,000; Twin lake, 75,000; Stevens lake, 50,000; Lost lake, 25,000; Meyers creek, 15,000; Sinlahekin creek, 25,000; Spectacle lake, 50,000; Camel lake, 25,000; Shaw lake, 25,000; Mary Ann Lake, 10,000.

The Pateros hatchery will turn out about a half million more game fish during the year, principally rainbow and steelheads.
