CHANGE IN POSTAGE RATES GOES INTO EFFECT TODAY

The new postage rates on first class matter, in accordance with the 1932-34 revenue act, went into effect today.

Letters and other first class matter, including that for local delivery at letter-carrier offices and that for delivery or collection by rural or star-route carriers at all offices, will cost three cents an ounce or fraction thereof. Letters in business reply envelopes-three cents an ounce or fraction thereof, plus one cent additional for each letter. Air mail-eight cents an ounce and 13 cents for each additional ounce. There is no change in the rate for postcards, private mailing or postal cards, nor on letters for local delivery at offices not having letter-carrier service.
