On Monday, the 11th instant, the President issued his proclamation announcing the admission of Washington into the union of States. On Tuesday the Lieutenant-Governor organized the Senate, after which resolutions were adopted by both Houses agreeing to ballot for United States Senator on November 19th.
The prominent candidates are ex-Governor Squire, of Seattle, ex-Delegate Allen and Judge George Turner, of Spokane Falls. The latter has thirty-two votes pledged to him on the first ballot.
