Another Hero of The Last War!!
"We might have had a third President in the person of John Tyler the present year had not small politicians set their faces against the wishes of the people; but we have had, during the last week, the visit of another Hero of the last war in the person of Richard Mentor Johnson."—Hill's Patriot.
It will probably be very satisfactory news to the public to learn, from so authentic a source, that John Tyler was a hero of the last war! We hardly think those "small politicians" would have set their faces against his Excellency's visiting this place had they been aware of his being a "hero." But the truth in regard to having the infamous scamp come to this place is, that a few "small politicians" set out to get him here, and the people hooted and scouted the bare idea of such a disgrace!
