RED CROSS ROLL CALL BEGUN
Aim to Enroll Ten Per Cent of Population of the Community
Once more this great National Organization of the American Red Cross has set a period in which the people throughout these United States may renew their membership and enroll themselves as helpers in an organization whose motto could be summed up in the one word "Service." To quote from articles given in the Red Cross Courier,
"The Red Cross is organized unselfishness": "It is a Moral Insurance in that it urges each giver to share with others the blessings he has received":"A National Insurance Supported by the people who take pride in it as a National Institution "A Personal Insurance supported from the pocket of the Individual." It is a voluntary organization. No one joins who has not read with sympathy, an account of grievious distress it may be one individual, or to a town city, state or even nation, the impulse is to aid but how? The Red Cross is the reply to all questions -for the Red Cross is the organized heart of America, animated by the warmth and generosity of Americans and prompt and effective as they like to be. As in previous years the town of Smyrna will be districted and canvassers have begun their work beginning on Monday, November 11th. The aim of every community is to enroll 10 per cent of its population. Let Smyrna go over the top this year of 1929.
