to get his wife with child, to improve the breed; think we stand much in need of.

No claim against a foreigner (by that I mean a native born in Virginia) because he came in poor, made his fortune amongst us, which is a matter to commend, and not despise: and is an argument contradiction to itself, to all thinking men.

Understanding my family is one of the first settlers in [Virginia],

I am far from party rage; but cry aloud, not with your petitions for a division of the [county], where it appears to me it must end in ruin, if carried,

my remarks should have any weight with those in power, should think I had done more service in my life past, and hope I have not offended;

but yet thus further I must say, were obliged to choose their court, I am of opinion it would end with worse consequences than at present in these corrupt times.
