Editor, The News:
On relinquishing my post as Consul of Israel for the seven Western states, I should like to take this opportunity, to express, publicly, my heartfelt thanks and deepest appreciation for the great help given to me by the Jewish press at large and by your distinguished paper especially. I must admit that I was overwhelmed by the extent of co-operation offered to me by your newspaper and I have no hesitation in stating that my job has been made that much easier because of it.
I am leaving this country in the full knowledge that the great Jewish community of the United States will continue to be the staunch supporter of our cause that it has been in the past. I feel most sure that you and your paper will extend the same courtesies and cooperation to my successor, Mr. Harry Beilin, who has already taken over the offices of the Consulate.
Please convey, on this occasion, my sincere regards and thanks to your readers, as well as my hope that they will continue to work wholeheartedly to help Israel in overcoming what seems to be almost insurmountable obstacles.
With best wishes and many thanks.
Yours very truly,
REUVEN RAFNI
Consul
208 W. 8th St.
Los Angeles 14, Calif.
