PROVIDENCE, September 23.

Extract of a Letter from Mr. Sherwood, Agent for this Colony, at the Court of Great-Britain, to his Honour Governor Wanton, dated July 5, 1769, laid before the General Assembly, at their last Session.

"In Company with several of the Agents for the North-American Colonies, and particularly for New-York, Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts-Bay, I attended the Earl of Hillsborough, on the Subject of the American Grievances: He repeatedly assured us, that the Legislature and Ministry here had laid aside every Idea of raising a Revenue in America for the Service of Government; that it was resolved upon by them, to repeal the Act laying Duties upon Paper, Glass and Colours: and that every reasonable and proper Measure would be taken, to remove the Jealousies, Fears, and Apprehensions of the Americans."

His Honour the Governor likewise laid before the Assembly: a Letter from the Earl of Hillsborough, conceived in the most respectful and complaisant Terms, differing in Stile and Manner from those heretofore received by this Colony from his Lordship.
