$10 More Is Added Fund Of The Band

Daniel Hardware Company Contribution Only Cash Item Sent to Dispatch for The Day

A check for $10 from the Daniel Hardware Company was the only cash contribution sent in today to the Daily Dispatch's fund being raised to finance a trip by the Henderson high school band to the New York World's Fair on North Carolina Day June 19.

Superintendent E. M. Rollins, of the schools, announced today a pledge of $25 from the Vance County Negro Schoolmasters Club, though this was not in cash, and is not included in cash contributions. The Negro teachers will, however, have the money in hand and deliver it to the band authorities in time for its use. Mr. Rollins said.

The $10 cash today ran the total of the Dispatch's fund to $325. Mrs. M. W. Wester, president of the Band Boosters Club, said today cash and prospective available funds held by and promised by her organization amounted to $627. This gave a grand total of $952.

In addition to these accounts, a number of parents are relied on to furnish transportation for their children who are members of the band.

But with all these, provision has not yet been made for carrying all of the band to the World's Fair, and more money in actual cash will be necessary if the trip is to be assured.

Those who are willing to help the cause along are urged to send in their contributions immediately. All check or cash furnished to the Daily Dispatch will be held intact until ready for use in sending the band to the fair, and if for any reason the band does not go to New York, all money sent to the Daily Dispatch will be returned to the donors.
