Outcome
reversal of outlawry; verdicts not set aside; small fine and imprisonment; removal of objections to seat (outlawry and qualification); take place in house without pardon
Event Details
It is generally thought that Mr. Wilkes's outlawry will be reversed; then, if the verdicts are not set aside for original defaults in the ex officio informations, he will soon after receive judgment thereon, which will amount only to a small fine and imprisonment; then the two grand objections to his seat in the House being removed and established, viz. the outlawry and qualification, he will quietly take place there for the county of Middlesex, without the necessity of any pardon, as thereby justice and mercy will be sufficiently exercised consistently with dignity, and the peace, union and prosperity of the nation be restored, to the great joy and satisfaction of all his Majesty's true and faithful subjects.
