On the 22d Inst. a Party of Indians in Virginia. at Stover's Town, took three Prisoners. being Women, and a Child of 4 Years old, which they tomahawked and scalped, after carrying it two Days. On the 24th a Party was sent from the South Branch. and another from Patterson's Creek. in order to cut them off on their Return. Lieutenant Stinson, of Captain Macdonald's Company, with 25 Men, set out- upon this Intelligence, on Braddock's Road, and was advanced as far as the Forks of the Road beyond the little Meadows. when they come up with two Indians. one of whom they killed and scalped. and mortally wounded the other. who, it is said, was found dead the next Day. They likewise retook two Horses. and all the Indians Baggage together with all the wearing Apparell of one Mrs. Gibbons. whom they. killed the 25th. within a Mile of this Garrison, where she was found this Day. They retook the White Woman which the Enemy had made Prisoner at Stover's Town, and all their Baggage.
