Soldiers Homestead Law.

As to what changes were made in the Homestead Law by the last session of Congress, we learn that only one amendment or change was made in the law passed last year, the second section of which was so amended as to read as follows:

'That any person entitled under the provisions of the foregoing sections to enter a homestead, who may heretofore enter under the homestead laws a quantity of land less than 160 acres, shall be permitted to enter so much land as, when added to the quantity previously entered, shall not exceed 160 acres.'

This change in the law gives soldiers the right to enter homesteads on double minimum lands within the limits of railway grants, to the amount of 160 acres. Under the law of 1872 only 80 acres of these lands were allowed to be entered. Those who have already entered their 80 acres can now enter 80 more.
