There is now living in St. Bride's Parish, Norfolk County, a free colored woman, named Sarah Curfee, who numbers 124 descendants, all alive at this time: how many she has had in all, adding those who are dead, cannot be ascertained, but it is believed that they would nearly double that number. Her age is not known, but she is believed to be upwards of 90, as her two eldest sons joined the army as substitutes, at the commencement of the Revolution. She is quite hale and robust, and can walk a mile or two with great ease. Sarah is a native of the neighborhood where she now resides, and more than half of her numerous progeny are settled around her.
