"One Hundred and Sixty four Warriors, of the Six Nations, Delawares, Shawanese, and Ottawas, came here and met in Council. They seem to be friendly disposed towards us, and say, they were sent by the Heads of their several Nations, to know how they would be received, and to carry back any Messages that might be sent by them. -- The Beaver, a principal Man of the Delawares, is now on his Way to this place with some of the Heads of the Owendats, Twightwees, Ottawas, and some others from or near Fort Detroit, and may be expected in a few Days. The Indians here have sent Messages to the Indians at Venango, to withdraw from the French, which I hope will have a good Effect."
