PENSACOLA, May 21.-Presbyterians meeting here in the annual general assembly of the Presbyterian church in the United States, found themselves on the second day of the church court facing a question which has vexed other sections of the assembly-the right and privileges of women.
The issue was brought before the assembly last night, when a motion was made that Mrs. W. C. Winsborough of St. Louis, superintendent of the women's auxiliary, read the report of that organization of the church.
Mrs. Winsborough had planned, it was understood, to delegate this task to Dr. H. H. Sweets, one of the church's leading executive secretaries.
The motion that Mrs. Winsborough read her report prevailed by a vote of 163 to 51, but the actual reading of the document was not reached before a recess was taken. It was left on the docket as the pending business of the assembly.
Recognition of Dr. J. W. Skinner's work on the Mexican border came when the Kingsville, Tex., man was elected moderator.
Today found the regular order lined up after a warm welcome was accorded the visitors last night on behalf of the city of Pensacola, the army post here and the church.
