This corner seeking some data on government records recently bore the brunt of an embarrassing experience. The information needed has been at our finger tips for years according to government reports. The Department of Commerce located on the second floor of the post office was pointed out to your paragrapher as one location where any government publication of note may be secured. We have made annual trips to this office to purchase booklets on individual income tax and the like, but never thought of the other manifold bulletins issued on various subjects that were within ready reach.
Realizing that we were not alone in this dilemma, we thought it worthwhile to pass it on to our readers. This office, located Room 235 in the Post Office Building, can serve many needs in Uncle Sam's printing. Subjects covered include Shipping, labor,

commerce, agriculture and taxes (why do you think we were there in the first place).

MISCELLANY: Did you know the State of Georgia will collect taxes on nearly a million separate properties in the local area. This helps to boost Georgia to the third position in total properties assessed for State taxes, falling behind Florida and North Carolina in the Southeastern group ... more than fifteen thousand Chatham Countians are engaged in the pursuit of manufacturing. Coming in for a sizable chunk of employment is transportation both freight and passenger. This would be noticeable in a city that ranks twelfth as an ocean port in relation to foreign tonnage. . . .
SPORTOPIC: Experts are critical about the match of Pete Rademacher and Floyd Patterson for the World's heavyweight title this month. The will to win versus the power to punch usually comes in second which is a bad position in a two man fight, i. e. finish second is to finish last. . . . Don Newcombe needs another letter from the President, probably naming him to Succeed the late Senator George as the Ambassador to NATO or some group foreign to Brooklyn. . . . The College All-Stars dropping their exhibition game to the New York Football Giants will thank James Parker (Ohio) and Clarence Peaks (Michigan) that the score was held to a respectable 20-12. Parker's performance was exceptional while both Peaks and Jimmy "First downs" Brown (Syracuse) showed talent and dispatch in handling their assignments. . . . The team we picked for the National League pennant is now riding an 18 game deficit, well after all there's next year and Mays is still young.
