Elmo N. Anderson of Palmer was fined $100 and received a 30-day suspended sentence following a plea of guilty to a charge of shop lifting on March 28. He appeared before Alternate City Magistrate Larry K. Mooers in City Court Monday morning, March 30 to answer the complaint brought by Ralph Koslosky. According to testimony given, Anderson had taken a can of anchovy paste from the grocery department of Koslosky's Department store. Upon leaving the store he was confronted by Everett Adams, store employee, to whom he admitted having taken the fish. He returned to the store with Adams and was then arrested by Police Chief Bernard Bowens. Koslosky said today that this is the first case they have prosecuted but that a program to halt the large-scale shoplifting in existence in Palmer is being conducted, and added that all similar violations will be turned over to city officials for prosecution.
