Mr. Beck—Among the candidates for Representatives to the General Court, I wish to propose the Hon. WILLIAM CLAGGETT. He is known to us all as a genuine and consistent democrat, and has done as much as any man for the republican cause: and I think he would be of great service to us in the General Court.

As a Representative and Senator, he has always discharged his duty to our entire satisfaction: and I have no idea of putting a man up one day, for the sake of putting him down the next, when his conduct meets the public approbation. I do not think it good policy to give up a long tried friend for a new one.—

Judging from the conversation of the citizens of different parts of the town, I think there is no reason to doubt but that the republicans will unite in his support, and give him at least as strong a vote as they did last year for Senator.
