Our news from the election in the interior of the State is very meager. So far as it goes it indicates some gains for the liberal Republicans and some for the Democrats. The Democrats appear to have made a large gain in Wood county, which must give them the two delegates from that and Pleasants, and probably elects Cather (liberal Republican) to the Senate from that district. The Democrats appear to have elected Davis over Carlile in Harrison, while it is a question if they have not also defeated Goff with Lewis. This change in Harrison and the probable change in Doddridge also endangers the election of Boreman to the Senate from that district. In Morgan it looks as if our excellent friend Rufus Smith had been beaten by our old time friend Jo. Wheat, running as an independent Republican. If our Martinsburg dispatch relates to the entire vote of Berkeley, it indicates the election of one Republican of each wing; if it relates only to the Martinsburg vote it indicates nothing intelligible. Mineral county has doubtless elected Welch, liberal Republican, while Hariman (same) is chosen in that district for Senate. In Preston, we presume the regular Republican ticket is elected, including the Senator in that district. In Taylor, Davisson (Dem.) is no doubt re-elected. In Marion Gov. Pierpont is elected and the contest is between Burt (Ind. Rep.) and Hill, (Rep. nominee.) There were no Democratic candidates in Marion, the statement that Fontaine Smith was one being an error. In Marshall it seems probable that Ed. wards, (Rep. nominee) and Thomas (Ind. Rep.) are chosen. There seems to be danger that we have lost a Senator in the Marshall district. Wirt county appears to have elected Fisher, (Rep.) This is as far as anything has been heard at the hour of writing. The news is too fragmentary to talk yet about general results, though we don't doubt, as we have not from the first, that we shall have a sufficient Republican majority in the House, as there is of course in the Senate.
