Cincinnati, Oct. 26. — Patriotism overshadowed all else at the opening session of the convention of the American Iron and Steel institute here today following the lead of the president of the institute, Elbert H. Gary, in pledging himself to do his utmost in the service of his country, the 500 delegates attending the convention also went on record to do their utmost for the nation.
James A. Farrell, president of the United States Steel corporation, made the declaration that the United States shipbuilding commission should build 6,000,000 instead of only 3,000,000 tons of shipping in the next 18 months.
