DEMARCO HARP ENSEMBLE IS HERE FOR ITS ENGAGEMENT

NOTED ARTISTS GIVE CONCERT TONIGHT AT THE ROYAL.

One of Finest Musical Organizations of Its Kind in World and Rare Treat for Laredo People.

The DeMarco Harp Ensemble is here for its engagement at the Royal Opera House tonight under the auspices of the Rotary Club as a benefit for the Children's Playground Fund and all who enjoy real music by real artists should attend the performance tonight.

A program of unusual charm is that offered by the DeMarco Harp Ensemble. It includes an ensemble of three harps played by artists, each of whom has achieved prominence as a soloist; the addition of cello and violin—also played by artists of attainments, and interesting and unusual combinations of harp, piano, violin and cello in two, trio and quartet arrangements.

It is a program built to concert every kind of musical taste, so that the program and repertoire will be popular with all types of music lovers and at the same time bring out the greatest beauty and fullest possibilities of instrumental combinations.

The group of artists was chosen and coached by Miss Elena DeMarco, well known concert harpist, who heads the harp department in one of the large Conservatories of Chicago.

Dwight Hainen, cellist and musical director of the company, studied at Drake Conservatory of Music at Des Moines, Iowa. He is not only an accomplished artist on the cello but is extremely gifted on musical lines generally and plays a half dozen different instruments. He is an accomplished pianist as well as a cellist and his major work at Drake was on these two instruments. He has had extensive recital experience in the middle western section and has been appearing professionally for six years.

Miss Martha Eglin received her first musical education in Cleveland, Ohio, and then spent five years in graduate and post graduate work at Berlin, majoring on both harp and piano. Her solo work will be one of the many delightful features of the DeMarco program. Her harp artistry stands out because of tonal delicacy and incisive execution.

The three assisting artists, two harpists and a violinist, are exceedingly gifted in their respective lines. One of the fine themes of the DeMarco program is the splendid ensemble effects, reflecting great credit upon Miss DeMarco's abilities as a organizer and coach. The DeMarco Harp Ensemble strikes a popular note, because it is something musical a little out of the ordinary in the entertainment field. The possibilities of harp groupings have been developed only recently and it was Miss DeMarco who first saw the added value of violin and cello.
