March 21. Herman Husbands, said to be chief Ring-leader in the late commotions in North-Carolina, and one of the Assembly, having been taken and imprisoned at Newbern, the insurgents (as they are called) so seriously threatened to besiege that town, to release him, that a body of militia was raised to oppose them. On the 8th a bill of indictment was preferred against Husbands, at the Court of Oyer and Terminer, but the grand jury not finding the bill he was discharged, and the quiet of the province is said to restored.
