Chas. W. Washington. executive secretary of the Minneapolis Urban League, has been invited to serve on the Board of Directors of the Minneapolis Summer Spectacle. an organization recently formed for the purpose of promoting a summer sports program similar to St. Paul's winter carnival. The fact that Mr. Washington was asked to serve on the board of this organization indicates that the co-operation of all groups in Minneapolis is desired in the promotion of this activity.
The Negroes were overlooked during the early stages of development of the Centennial Celebration last fall. However, the group was able to secure last minute recognition and made a creditable showing. Representation on the board of the Summer Spectacle will enable the group to keep abreast of developments and allow more time for effective participation.
