The Ogden Concert.
The concert given by the Tabernacle choir at Ogden last night, was undoubtedly the finest thing of the kind which has ever taken place there. About 100 members of the choir went up, and perhaps 150 others, who took advantage of the cheap excursion rates there and back. The tickets sold nearly paid the transportation expenses of the choir, and it was on the concert that dependence had been put for a profit. While this was looked upon as a certainty, the most sanguine never dreamed that it would be so grand a success. The house was literally jammed, the aisles being packed up to the stand: hundreds were turned away, and upwards of $200 in tickets had to be redeemed because of the inability of those holding them to secure admission.
Everything was so loudly applauded that it would have been necessary to encore each number, but that had to be stopped. So great was the success that it was decided to repeat the concert this afternoon in order to accommodate the immense number unable to gain admission, and to satisfy the desire of those who were fortunate to get in.
A car returned at 1 o'clock this morning, bringing back about thirty-five persons. The remaining excursionists will be back to-night.
