New Jackets Soon
An order for 13 baseball jackets was placed on order by a committee of the Fairport Pirates. The committee journeyed to Cleveland last Saturday morning and purchased the jackets from the Cleveland Sports Goods company.
The new warm-up apparel will be blue and gold in color, featured by knit waistline, knit sleeve ends, and a knit collar.
The jacket will be blue, trimmed with gold.
A large chenille emblem will appear on the left side of the front of the uniforms.
"Fairport Pirates, 1946" is to be inscribed on a Pirate on the letter emblem.
It was announced by Jack Bittner, chairman of the committee, that the outfits should be ready within a week or ten days.
It was decided at a recent meeting that a sum of money be collected for three of the lads who were former members of the Pirates squad but who are now serving in the army.
The three, Jack Laczko, Nick Moroz and Ray Holm, will receive their outfits at a later date.
Those receiving the new jackets are Ray Pillar, Bob Meyers, Jack Hilberg, Bill Maruschak, Bob Volanski, Bob Armstrong, Jack Karako, Jack Bittner, Dick Cleary, Louis Bajc, Eddie Hilston, Bill Horvath and Frank Modic.
