Full Text
Major Alderton is a Gentleman about 26 Years of Age. The Cause of this Quarrel occurred three Years ago, soon after which the Captain was stationed in the West-Indies, and returned to England only about ten Days ago: On Saturday Morning last he sent a Challenge to the Major, demanding Satisfaction on account of the old Quarrel, at which he was greatly surprised, as not imagining any Man would retain a Grudge so long after. The Major employed himself in Writing all Saturday last, and, as is conjectured made his Will; the next Morning the Captain called on him; soon after they went away in a Hackney-coach, breakfasted together at Jenny's Whim, Chelsea, and then drove to Kennington common, where the affair was determined as above related.
