VERMONT ELECTION.

A Montpelier paper of the 2nd ult. gives

The returns of votes for Governor from 190

Towns, in which there were 13035 for Tichenor,

and 12052 for Smith--thus giving a

Majority for the federal candidate of 953

Votes. The same paper remarks, that the

Remaining few towns to be heard from are

Small, and understood to be about equally

Divided in their votes for governor; that

The federalists have also succeeded in their

Choice of Lieutenant Governor and Council;

and that reports speak favorably of the

Election of three federal members to Congress,

and a small majority of representatives.

The Burlington Centinel of September

23, also says, that "scarce a doubt remains

Of the complete success of Federalism in the

Election of all the state officers."
