ENCOURAGING SCHOOL NEWS REVEALED BY VISITING TEACHERS—OFFICERS ELECTED.
The meeting was called to order by county superintendent J. W. Bivins, who made statements among other things that the book rental plan seemed to be working nicely, that several hundred books were out on the rental plan, the enrollment for the first month was fifty-two percent larger than the first month last fall, and larger by thirty-six pupils than the first month of any previous fall opening.
Superintendent D. S. Standard of the Cordele Public Schools was the main speaker. He spoke encouragingly along different lines, urged faithfulness on the part of the teachers, stressed English and Mathematics… otherwise gave a splendid talk that was thoroughly enjoyed by all present.
It developed that at least seventy-one schools would be represented at the Crisp County Fair.
In organizing the teachers for another year Professor H. M. Perry, principal of the Arabi school was elected secretary.
The following program committee was appointed: Miss Emma Campbell, principal of the Bridges school, Mrs. J. Whitaker, principal of the Wenona school, and Miss Florence Israel, principal of the Penia school.
Following other announcements by the county superintendent, salary checks were distributed, the meeting adjourned.
This was the second meeting for the fall term, the first meeting being held just ahead of the opening of school.
