FIRE.

About 4 o'clock on Sunday morning this village was alarmed by the cry of fire, which proved to be in the Dye Shop attached to the Woolen Factory now occupied by Messrs. Davenport and Turner.

The shop was entirely consumed, leaving however the valuable kettles which were filled with liquid uninjured.

By the prompt and persevering efforts of our Engine Company and the citizens the fire was limited to the building in which it commenced, although a strong north wind threatened to spread it widely on the north west side of the creek. The loss is computed at 500 dollars.
