A Stolen Badge on a Corpse.

Some time ago Mr. C. A. Strother, of Lincoln, Ga., lost a Masonic badge by theft. He was anxious to recover it, and instituted a vigorous search. He found that a negro woman in the neighborhood had been seen with the badge. He went to her and threatened to prosecute her if she did not return it to him. She told him that it had been buried on a negro girl that had died in the neighborhood two weeks before. It seems that in preparing the body for burial a pin was needed to fasten the clothing, so the woman took the badge and used it for this purpose. By consent of the girl's parents the body was taken up and the badge was found and recovered. Mr. Strother prized the badge on account of the great length of time it had been in the family, and now an additional interest will be attached to it.
