Extract of a letter from Washington, Jan. 7, 1812.

Despatches reached here last evening from our minister in France.--The accounts are said to wear a favourable appearance--In addition to this, I am informed that letters have been received from England of very late date by a Senator of the United States; the letters place our affairs in a great state of uncertainty; those from London scarce indulge a hope of the repeal of the orders in council--Those from Liverpool, which we understand have been received at Baltimore, declare positively that their orders will be rescinded in the course of 10 or 15 days, &c.--Alexandria Herald.
