CHARLESTOWN (S. C.) June 5.

CAPTAIN Ogilvie, who was master of the Appalachicola on the voyage to London from St. Augustine, and was a passenger in her last, a few leagues to the westward of Bermuda, he fell in with the sloop Mary, Thomas Jones master, from Edenton to Cape Nicholas Mole, then a mere wreck.

Captain Ogilvie took the master and his six sailors pressed by a boat from the Speedwell sloop of war; some of them giving information that Captain Jones had been Lieutenant of an American privateer, he was also taken away, and was on board the Speedwell the last time Captain Ogilvie heard of him.

Captain Morwick sailed from Spithead on the 28th of March, in company with fifteen sail of transports, victuallers and merchantmen, bound for New York, under convoy of a sloop of war.

There were at that time between thirty and forty sail of men of war at Spithead, from frigates to ninety gun ships; Admiral Mackenzie commanded there, and had his flag on board the Princess Amelia.

About twenty five of those ships were manned. The press was as hot throughout Great Britain and Ireland, in the end of March, as ever was known. We cannot learn that any reinforcement, excepting a few recruits, had sailed for General Howe, or that there was the least appearance of any sailing till late in April.
