Extract of a letter from a respectable character, in the County of Essex to his friend in this town, April 6, 1798.
"I am happy to inform you, that a sense of Liberty and Republicanism, rapidly increases among us in this part of the state almost every body appear to be astonished at the Conduct of the Executive of our government. Depend upon it-a French War, will be very unpopular. May Heaven prevent it, and put our Peace and Liberty out of the reach of a few designing and Wicked characters."
