NEW-YORK, January 11.

Extensive Forgeries Detected

A person named Stewart has been detected in Georgetown in passing Counterfeit Bank Notes. On examination, he confessed he had an accomplice in Georgetown, another in Washington, two in Richmond, and two in Baltimore. The bills were of almost all the banks in the United States, and those found in his trunks amounted to nearly 150,000 dollars. He says the notes were executed in Canada—some of them so well as almost to deceive the nicest observer.
