Full Text

Presidential.
The Ravenna Democrat, after an elaborate discussion of Presidential candidate matters, concludes by nominating Lieut. Gen. Grant. That paper says:
If Ohio wishes to furnish a President to the Nation, Gen. Grant is the man. He is known to be sound and reliable on all our Congressional principles of reconstruction, and has shown himself to be in every position a safe and prudent man. He then, can be relied upon, and is worthy of public confidence. And now, while the "ropes are being laid," while intriguers are at work, it becomes those who would win their political fortunes to those of a native born citizen of the State, and one whom we can nominate and elect, speak out without further delay. Nor is it deemed advisable for public journalists longer to delay the expression of opinion, and we do not believe the avowal of preferences will be long held back. We hope ere long, to be able to record many utterances from our public journals, and utterances, too, in behalf of Ulysses S. Grant, the great soldier and true patriot, for the next President of the United States. Intriguers and plotters, avaunt! Ulysses S. Grant, the People's Candidate for President. By that sign we shall conquer.
