OPEN CITY CANNERY
Forty Women Volunteers on Hand-To Supply City Institutions.

Kansas City, Mo., July 31.-Kansas City's reply to the government's appeal to can vegetables and fruits came today when forty volunteer women workers formally opened the city's municipal cannery.

The purpose of the cannery, besides furnishing supplies for the city's school lunch rooms and charitable institutions, is to teach these women the art of canning and preserving.

The class period lasts thru an eight-hour day and before the canning season ends all women who have taken the course will be able to can or preserve eighteen kinds of garden products.
